Read on for Dr. Strip Club’s answers to all your questions about how Vegas Strip Clubs work. “Why are there so many promoters and billboards for strip clubs?”  “I don’t see any on the Las Vegas Strip; where are they?”  “Is every single girl in Vegas a stripper, cocktail waitress or escort?” “How many strip clubs are there in Vegas?”  “What is the best strip club in Vegas?”  “How do Vegas Strip Clubs really work?” “How many strippers and strip clubs are there in Vegas?”  Are the strip clubs here really that good?  What goes on in the Vegas Strip Club VIP; are people having sex inside the club?   Here’s everything you ever wanted to know and more about how Vegas strip clubs work and operate.

NO STRIP CLUBS ON THE STRIP, BUT VERY CLOSE

There are no open strip clubs on the Las Vegas Strip; real estate is just too expensive.  But there are at least a dozen within a few blocks of the strip and more than 20 within 4 miles.  Since they aren’t on the strip, the clubs advertise and promote heavily to get clients.  Despite the fact we get 50 million tourists a year, have a reputation for being “sin city” and “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”,  and have some of the world’s best strip clubs, it still takes advertising marketing and promotions to get business in the door. That’s why there are

SO MANY PROMOTERS

If you walk Las Vegas Boulevard, you’ll be “pitched” by so many promoters that you may feel assaulted–you’ll certainly get tired of it.  The clubs pay these people a spiff for every person they send to the club; they don’t work for the club in any official capacity. Are any of these people legit and can you trust the “free” promotions and deals they offer? Here’s a really interesting article on the subject of street promoters? You can also search our site for articles on the street performers, time-share folks, taxi, Uber & Lyft issues and more.  Vegas strip clubs do offer “free” transportation and entry.  Here’s an explanation of why?  If you want to visit a strip club while you are in Las Vegas, we think you should check out our reviews to avoid getting scammed and of course, trust Dr. Strip Club to get you the best deal.

THE DANCERS

There are over 10,000 licensed strippers in Las Vegas; yes they must have a business license and undergo a background check to get a “Sheriff’s Card”.  Here are a few facts on Vegas Exotic Dancers aka strippers.  We also have an interesting article on Vegas strippers here.  Dancers from all over the world fly and drive to Vegas to work, so not all strippers you meet in the club live in Vegas.  Dancers pay the club a house fee to work in the club.  This fee ranges from $20 a night to over $200 at the busiest clubs on peak days and times.  The dancers keep all their tips while on stage and all the lap dance money goes to the dancer as well.  Dancers earn a “commission” or percentage when they sell the VIP rooms and private rooms.  Many strippers in Vegas are quality professional people.  A State Supreme Court Justice worked her way through college as an exotic dancer.  Many dancers earn $175,000 a year and some earn more…much more.

HOW DO THE CLUBS THEMSELVES WORK AND MAKE MONEY?

When it comes to How Vegas Strip Clubs work, the club is really a glorified bar.  That is why they charge so much for drinks.  The clubs make a little money on the dancer house fees and they keep a small percentage of the money you pay for VIP and nickel and dime a few more dollars out of the dancers.  Of course they get outrageous ATM fees which is one of many reasons you should never use the ATM in a strip club. See our post on Strip Club Do’s and Don’ts.  But a Vegas Strip Club’s primary source of revenue is liquor sales.  That’s why they have a 2 drink minimum. That’s why they charge $18-$20 for a beer or a cocktail. That’s why they add drink and bar tab minimums to the VIP room rates. They have to keep the doors open and make a profit so those hot girls can ride your lap.  The basic business model goes like this:  The average customer in the door spends $120 on drinks and VIP revenue to the club. (The dancers get all the lap dance money & a big percentage of the VIP charges) The club pays out $60-$75 of that to promoters/promotion companies, limo services, taxis, Uber, etc.  The rest of the money keeps the doors open, lights on and the staff paid.  And if the club is well run and manged, they get enough customers in the door to generate a profit.  Some of them are very profitable. It’s all about getting people in the door.

SEX IN THE STRIP CLUB?

It happens.  Not always in exchange for money…on a rare occasion, that stripper is horny and she really does like you!  More likely, the payment on her Mercedes convertible is due.  It is illegal.  While prostitution is legal in Nevada, it is not legal in Clark County and Las Vegas is in Clark County.  See my blog posts for great reads on exactly what is VIP in a Vegas Strip Club, Nevada Brothels, and other sex related questions.
