Can You Trust Vegas Street Promoters

Can you Trust Vegas Street Promoters, card slappers, cabbies, Uber or Lyft drivers, performers and hustlers?  The general answer is NO!  I’ve lived and worked in Las Vegas for over 25 years and this article explains how things work on the Las Vegas Strip with regard to Strip Club Street Promoters.  Better to check the actual current strip club deals here or call +1 (702) 305-4051 and reserve with Dr. Strip Club.

STRIP CLUB PROMOTERS

Typical Promoter Card

These are not the card-slappers, but the men and women passing out cards and inviting you to go to the Strip Club. They’re the people shouting, “strip club…free limo…no cover.”  A few of them actually wear lighted billboard signs promoting various clubs. (The sign doesn’t make them legit–it means they bought or rented a sign to use.)  These people are NOT Employees of the strip club, even the women pretending to be dancers. They are independent contractors paid a spiff, usually $45-50 or more for each guy they send to the strip club and $15 for each lady.  Generally speaking these folks will say anything to get you into their limo. No matter how good the deal sounds and how honest they seem, REMEMBER: There’s Always A Catch.  Nothing is Free.  The law requires them to have a background check and business license, but most do not.  (In the past 30 years walking Las Vegas Blvd. 5 nights a week, I’ve only a few honest and legally licensed business people promoting strip clubs. The rest are all some form of liars, cheaters, scammers, criminals and worse. Here’s a list of the trustworthy ones I currently find on the strip. Most of these people crawl out from under their rock every night and try to hustle enough money to support their alcohol, drug, sex or gambling habits. Here’s the cross section of Vegas Street Promoters.  Some of these categories overlap.  There’s also a group called “Strip Club Crawl” with a new scam; full details on the strip club crawl scam here.

HONEST LEGITIMATE BUSINESS PEOPLE

Extremely rare.  These are the folks who dress like you–(The ones who dress too slick are the worst scammers).  The honest ones politely ask if you want to go to the strip club or not. They look you in the eye and give you their pitch and ask if you want to go now or call them for pick up later.  That’s it…no unbelievable deals, no false promises, no pressure.  You wanna go?  Here’s the offer.  They are professional and it shows.  They work at this business and enjoy the interaction with people and using their well honed people skills. They might use funny pitches, like “Couples Therapy Night at the Strip Club” to get your attention, but they won’t be spouting nastiness. They don’t sell drugs and if you ask them where to buy drugs, they will respond with “NO” or “I hear the strippers have the best shit; Wanna go to the strip club?” These guys make $150,000 a year or more…like I said, there are very few.

THE SEMI-HONEST PROMOTERS EARNING A LIVING

These folks generally present a legitimate offer, but they can be sketchy. They likely won’t have the required business license or might pretend to be licensed with some form of official looking paperwork hanging around their neck.  It’s usually fake or a copy of someone else’s business license.  They will stretch the truth and offer “free drinks”, “free lap dances” and other discounts or special deals to get you in the club.  These deals may or may not actually exist.  These folks may or may not be willing to direct you to drugs or a prostitute.  Deal with them at your own peril. The Limos they put you in are usually second rate–holes in the seats, dirty, smell bad, etc.

THE HUSTLERS, HUCKSTERS AND SCAMMMERS

Vegas Stripper Doctor Strip Club SSW 2019

These are the aggressive pushy promoters.  They walk the strip with an attitude.  Their clothing/style ranges from saggy pants hip hop to overly suited flashy types, to homeless, to female promoters dressed like hookers.  These are the folks shouting, “Titties in Your Face”, “Finger Bomb a Single Mom”, “Bacon Wrapped Titties” and other non-sense. In fairness, some of the promoters who use this type of pitch, may be honest and some of the things they say are creative.  My issues with them are:  First, there are children on the strip at night–they shouldn’t be there, but they are and this type of pitch is rude and it shows a lack of taste and sales skills.  Humor is one thing; unnecessary rudeness in an attempt to be funny is simply bad form. Second, some of these pitches imply sexual acts which crosses a legal line.  Legally any pitch which implies sexual acts for money is promoting prostitution, which is illegal in Las Vegas.  Promoters who use these type of pitches risk arrest, and loss of their business license if they have one.  The card slappers have a team of lawyers to carefully word their ads and tell their employees to simply hand out the cards without speaking for this very reason. That’s why the card slappers “snap” and flick the cards to make noise and get your attention.  They are instructed not to make verbal offers so they won’t cross a legal line.  Some of the street promoters don’t mind crossing that line.

Many of them are actually selling drugs. If that appeals to you, remember the strip is full of undercover police officers and they often pose as strip club promoters.  Most of these folks are drug users as well.  They are generally armed, aggressive, violent and rude.  They are not legitimately licensed, haven’t had a background check and will do anything for their next dollar or fix.  The “limos” these people put you in are often run down death traps. Avoid these people if you enjoy your life money and health!

THE HOMELESS CARD SELLERS

NEVER GIVE ANY PROMOTER ON LAS VEGAS BLVD ANY MONEY!  If a promoter is legitimate, he/she gets paid by the club and will not take money from you.  There are a number of folks who will pass out legitimate or semi-legitimate promoter’s cards and ask you for a tip.  They say they card is good for some amazing offer or deal and when you take the card, they say, “We work for tips.”  Don’t buy it.  You just paid for a worthless business card you could’ve gotten free and the deal you were promised does not exist.  By they way, if you offer an honest strip club promoter a tip as he/she is putting you in the limo, they will politely say no thanks and ask you to tip their driver instead.

THE CARD SLAPPERS and CARD SNAPPERS

These are the folks dressed in brightly colored T-shirts with phrases like “Girls to Your Room”, “Orgasm Clinic”, “Strippers Direct to You”, etc.  They pop and slap the cards to make noise and get your attention.  Half speak little to no English.  Vegas locals sometimes refer to them as “The Mexican Mafia.”  They ARE NOT promoting strip clubs. This is an honest yet somewhat deceptive business.  See our full article on the Girls to Your Room Scam, here.
